KAI Prepares 3.4 Million Long-Distance Train Tickets for Eid Transport

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has prepared 3,443,832 long-distance train (KAJJ) tickets for the 2025 Eid transport period. This initiative aims to ensure smooth travel for the public during the holiday season.
"Given the high demand for train travel, KAI has allocated up to 3.4 million KAJJ tickets for departures between March 21 and April 11, 2025, covering a 22-day period," said KAI Vice President of Public Relations Anne Purba in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday (3/2).
As of Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 07:00 AM WIB, KAI recorded the sale of 1,486,649 KAJJ Eid tickets, accounting for 43.17% of the total available capacity.
Sales trends indicate that peak demand is expected on March 28, 2025 (three days before Eid), with 102,233 tickets already sold for that date. This number is expected to increase as ticket sales continue.
According to preliminary data, the ten stations with the highest departure volumes during the 2025 Eid homecoming season are:
- Pasarsenen Station - 208,106 passengers
- Gambir Station - 116,861 passengers
- Bekasi Station - 65,489 passengers
- Kiaracondong Station - 56,014 passengers
- Yogyakarta Station - 47,663 passengers
- Surabaya Pasar Turi Station - 47,198 passengers
- Surabaya Gubeng Station - 44,973 passengers
- Lempuyangan Station - 43,926 passengers
- Bandung Station - 37,700 passengers
- Semarang Tawang Bank Jateng Station - 35,456 passengers
To enhance customer experience during the 2025 Eid transport period, KAI has implemented various service improvements.
One of the key measures includes deploying 170 Customer Service Mobile (CSM) personnel across 39 stations within various Operational Areas (Daop) and Regional Divisions (Divre). These personnel will assist customers with information and other needs throughout their journey.
As part of its sustainability commitment, KAI has also expanded the availability of water stations to reduce single-use plastic bottle consumption. Four additional stations—Kertapati, Lamongan, Wonokromo, and Sidoarjo—are now equipped with these refill facilities, bringing the total to 28 stations with water stations.
"With more water stations available, passengers can refill their drinking water independently while supporting an environmentally friendly lifestyle," Anne added.
As a token of appreciation for passengers traveling during Ramadan, KAI is reintroducing its free iftar snack program at various stations. This initiative will run for 10 days, from 10 days before Eid until the day before Eid, distributing a total of 34,400 snack packages at 21 major stations to passengers breaking their fast.
"KAI is committed to providing the best service, especially during Ramadan. This free iftar snack program reflects our care for passengers traveling near iftar time," said Anne.
Passengers planning their trips can book long-distance train tickets up to 45 days before departure, while local train tickets are available from 30 days before departure. Additionally, some services can be booked seven days before departure.
KAI encourages travelers to book their tickets early through the Access by KAI app or the official website kai.id to secure their preferred travel schedules.
With these service enhancements, KAI aims to provide a safer, more comfortable, and memorable journey for passengers during Eid.
"We encourage the public to plan their trips wisely and take advantage of the various services we have prepared," Anne concluded.
