SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Soon, we will welcome the month of Ramadan. This month full of blessings and glory has some history and important events from the past. According to several sources, Ramadan has at least eight important and historical events during the month of Ramadan.

What are these important moments of Ramadan? Check out the information!

1. The Passing Away of Fatimah bint Muhammad (3rd of Ramadan)

Fatimah Az Zahra passed away on the 3rd of Ramadan, 11 Hijri (632 A.D.). In the history of Islam, Fatimah was known as someone who had many virtues and merits. It was said that she was so holy that she did not get a period. Therefore, she could always pray to Allah SWT, which is also the reason why she got the title Az Zahra, meaning flower in Arabic.

2. The Passing Away of Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (11th of Ramadan)

Khadijah passed away on the 11th of Ramadan (619 A.D.), at the age of 65 years. Khadijah was Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s first wife. She got the title Ummul Mukminin, or the mother of faithful people.

3. The Passing Away of Aisyah bint Abu Bakar (17th of Ramadan)

Aisyah passed away on the 17th of Ramadan, 58 Hijri (July 13th, 678 A.D.), when she was doing Witr prayer. Aisyah was the daughter of Abu Bakar Ash-Shiddiq and was married to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) when she was barely 10 years old. She was very intelligent and became the place to ask after the passing away of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

4. The Battle of Badr (17th of Ramadan)

The battle of Badr happened on the 17th of Ramadan 2 Hijri (March 13th, 624 A.D.). 313 Muslims won this battle against about 1,000 Quraysh disbelievers. This battle happened in Badr, Madinah, and was one of the biggest battles in the history of Islam.

5. The Passing Away of Ruqayyah bint Muhammad (17th of Ramadan)

Ruqayyah was the second daughter of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Siti Khadijah. She passed away on the 17th of Ramadan, 2 Hijri (624 A.D.), at the age of 23 years. It was believed that the cause of her passing away was measles, after the battle of Badr.

6. Nuzulul Quran (17th of Ramadan)

Nuzulul Quran is the event of the first revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through Jibril. This event took place in Hira Cave, north of Mecca, on the 17th of Ramadan (610 A.D.). At this event, Jibril carried Surah Al-Alaq verses 1–5, indicating the prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

 7. Laylatul Qadr

What differentiates Laylatul Qadr from Nuzulul Quran is that this event was the night the entire Quran was revealed. The Quran was descended from Lauhul Mahfudz to the second heaven before Jibril carried it periodically to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) never mentioned the actual date of Laylatul Qadr, but some believed that it happened during Ramadan. For Muslims, this night is considered better than a thousand moons.

8. Fathu Makkah (20th Ramadan)

Fathu Makkah happened on the 20th of Ramadan 8 Hijri. Fathu Makkah is when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) conquered the city of Mecca from the injustices of the Quraysh disbelievers.
