SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), stated that the flexible work arrangement (FWA) policy is expected to be implemented starting seven days before Eid, specifically on March 24, 2025.

"We have coordinated with the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) regarding the implementation of the flexible work arrangement, previously known as work from anywhere," AHY said at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, on Saturday.

He hopes that this policy will help distribute people's movement earlier ahead of the Eid homecoming (mudik). With the implementation of FWA starting on March 24, 2025, public mobility is expected to be more evenly spread out and not concentrated during the peak of the homecoming rush.

FWA is a work system that allows employees to work flexibly in terms of location and working hours.

As part of the strategy to ensure a smooth homecoming flow for Eid 1446 Hijri, the government is implementing the FWA policy to help reduce traffic congestion that typically occurs before Eid al-Fitr. This measure also takes into account that this year’s Eid coincides closely with Nyepi (Balinese Day of Silence), making special traffic and mobility management strategies necessary.

Additionally, the government is working to align school holiday schedules to further optimize the distribution of homecoming traffic.

AHY emphasized that this policy is a direct directive from President Prabowo Subianto to ensure that the 2025 homecoming journey is safe, comfortable, and affordable for all citizens.

"We want the public to know that this is the government's effort, in line with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto, who is committed to ensuring that travel during Ramadan and Eid is safer, more comfortable, and more enjoyable," said AHY.

Ahead of Ramadan 1446 Hijri, the government continues to ensure the readiness of infrastructure and transportation services to support the smooth flow of homecoming and return travel during this year’s Eid.

AHY also stressed that various strategic steps have been taken in accordance with the President’s instructions, with the primary goal of introducing policies that prioritize the welfare of the people to make homecoming travel smoother and more convenient.

"The President always wants to ensure that the policies taken are pro-people, especially in facing this year’s Eid homecoming season," he stated.

One of the government's key priorities is ensuring smooth transportation while also working to lower ticket prices to make travel more affordable for the public.

The government has also prepared strategic measures to improve transportation infrastructure readiness across land, sea, air, and rail sectors to ensure a smoother homecoming journey this year.
