SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) predicts that the peak of the Eid Al Fitr 2025 homecoming flow will occur on March 28-30.

To anticipate the surge of travelers, the National Police has prepared Operation Ketupat which will take place from March 26 to April 8, 2025.

“The National Police will hold Operation Ketupat from March 26 to April 8. The peak of the homecoming flow is expected to occur on March 28-30, while the return flow is predicted to reach its peak after April 8,” Deputy Chief Assistant for Operations (Waastamops) of the National Police, Inspector General of Police Endi Sutendi in his statement, Tuesday (25/2/2025).

He explained that there are various traffic engineering schemes that have been prepared to unravel the density of vehicles during the homecoming and return flows.

The schemes include contraflow and one way on a number of toll roads. His party will also divert the flow to arterial roads if necessary.

“For schemes on toll roads, we will look at the situation and conditions in the field. If necessary, we will implement contraflow, one-way system, and diversion to arterial roads to facilitate traffic,” he explained.

The number of travelers in Eid Al Fitr 2025 is estimated to reach more than 100 million people. Therefore, the National Police will cooperate with various related agencies to ensure the smooth flow of homecoming and backflow.

“Based on last year's experience and the movement during Christmas and New Year (Nataru), the number of travelers is estimated to be above 100 million people. Therefore, we will take more careful anticipatory steps,” Endi explained.

Insyaallah, in mid-March we will hold a cross-sectoral meeting with the Ministry of Transportation and related agencies to obtain more valid information,” he concluded.
