BI Limits New Money Exchange to IDR4 Million Per Person Ahead of Eid Al-Fitr

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1445 H, Bank Indonesia (BI) is expanding money exchange services through mobile cash and commercial banks from March 15 to April 7. To meet the anticipated demand, BI has prepared 197.6 trillion rupiah in usable currency, a 4.65% increase from the 188.8 trillion rupiah provided in 2023.
Marlison Hakim, Executive Director of BI's Money Management Department, announced an increase in the individual exchange limit to 4 million rupiah, up from 3.8 million rupiah last year. He explained that this adjustment aims to ensure fair and equitable access to the new currency for all Indonesians. (DHITA/ DKD)
